Non Profit

It is the mission of the U-District Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to inspire kids to live healthy lives. We are committed to helping our students grow by coaching them about good nutrition, staying active and setting goals.

Our Programs

We believe in the power of encouragement and the value of teamwork. Our camps, runs, family challenges and mentorship program all are designed to strengthen the connection between health and happiness.

Fitness & Fun Camp

Our free camp is designed to help kids correlate fitness with fun. Our stations include soccer, basketball, speed, agility, nutrition, balance jumping and more!

Fun Run Series

Join us for a timed 5k for adults and 1k for kids on the trail. After the race we’ll celebrate with free food, treats and raffle prizes. Free for kids & only $5 for adults. All participants receive a free shirt!

Family Challenge

We’re currently taking applicants for the Family Challenge. Workout as a family for 6 weeks and learn about healthy eating and lifestyle habits from our certified trainers.

Mentorship Program

The U-District Foundation’s Mentorship program is community based with one student matched with one mentor.

Our Promise

The common theme we hear from mentors and students alike is that this fun! One mentor calls the outings her “mandatory play time” and looks forward to each hour spent with her student. Our promise to you: this will be the most enjoyable, rewarding and satisfying volunteer experience of your life!

A Unique Match Process

After a thorough screening and intake process, mentors are accepted into the U-District family. Then, a student is carefully selected, screened and matched to meet the interests, background and passions of the mentor. We have no student wait list. We will work with our partner schools to match you with the right student chosen from an entire school’s student body. Ours is a unique formula that works and results in long lasting, rewarding relationships.

Activities

Our students and mentors go on regular outings together to develop healthy, trusting relationships. They go to ball games, take walks, ride bikes, go on hikes, decorate pottery, explore books, museums and shows – the list is limitless. The goal is connection.

Commitment

The commitment level is easy for even the busiest people. Outings are twice each month for two hours or more. We ask that you spend two hours with your student each time. No matter where you are in your life, we can match you with the right student. Our mentors range from their early twenties to their late sixties. Join us and be part of the U-District Foundation Team!
